Christine de Pizan - or Christine of Pisa, was one of the first professional writers in the Middle Ages1 with patrons as powerful as the King of France.
Her most famous works are The Book of the City of Ladies and The Treasure of the City of Ladies which give us a view that’s both solidly Medieval and what may be called feminist in its arguments, written from the perspective of a woman.
