Sir, in my heart there was a kind of fighting
That would not let me sleep.
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark is often considered Shakespeare’s greatest play. The tension of Prince Hamlet’s internal struggles and family drama, and its satisfyingly tragic end, make its rendition of the tale very memorable. It’s a reasonable source of inspiration for adventures in the game just based off of that1.
But the original from Saxo Grammaticus’ Gesta Danorum, with Shakespeare’s more modern set dressing stripped away, lines up decently well with King Arthur2. It also strips away some of the internal dramas and the ending, which I do think Shakespeare did well to add - but I think there’s good excuse to mix different interpretations.

Based on other stories that include characters of the same time period who finally lead to the lineages of characters we can historically pin down - because you can also just count the kings and you get 605 BC, which is way too early. ↩
