“Sir,” he said, “my name is Priamus, and a great prince is my father, and he hath been rebel unto Rome and overridden many of their lands. My father is lineally descended of Alexander and of Hector by right line. And Duke Joshua and Maccabaeus were of our lineage…” Sir Thomas Malory, Le Morte D’Arthur

WIP

  • Somewhat based on previous attempts
  • Pendragon - especially the Book of Sires which expands this - has a major focus on building the Family, tracing back 2 generations.
  • That’s always been my intent, but there’s different ways of doing it.
  • Pendragon’s system is basically to roll a random event for each family each year with a d20. There’s a few limited decision points, but it’s mostly learning about the world.
  • Cortex Prime encourages a “lifepath” system that involves drawing up a relationship map on discrete points of interest in the backstory (not necessarily for a 2 generation thing, but the same principles can apply) and that’s a bit closer to what I’m aiming for.
  • My explanation of the timeline also suggests a bit of my direction here.
