Old priest, who mumble worship in your quire-
Old monk and nun, ye scorn the world’s desire,
Yet in your frosty cells ye feel the fire!
The fire of Heaven is not the flame of Hell.Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Balin & Balan
These Passions relate to a character’s reaction to pleasures and desires.
A Temperate character refuses, limits or moderates indulgence in their desires. They may be called chaste1, pure and ascetic.
A Lustful character, in contrast, embraces desires strongly or without moderation. They may be called gluttonous2, passionate, or wanton3.
