My friend, when God first made the world and all the creatures in it—the birds, the fishes, the animals—He made them with their faces ever earthward, searching for their food. But man He made quite differently: He raised man’s face to see the vastness and the splendour of the heavens, and all the riches with which He’d adorned the world in its creation.
Wauchier of Denain, Second Continuation of Perceval
In a sense, the Family is the real character you’re playing, but while that’s true in an abstract sense, this is the main and most involved reference sheet you’ll be looking at most often in the game.

…if you’re a knight, that is. The sheets for Ladies and the Clergy have some variations.
At the top is a Coat of Arms and some biographical details (Character Name, Religious Tradition, Childhood Home and Character Appearance - and hidden in the bottom righthand corner is one more detail, Year of Birth).
Then we have, starting from the top of the left hand side of the page:
- Reputations
- Literacies
- Tutelary Patron
- Skills
- Attire
- and for knights we have Armor, their special mechanic.
- For ladies here we have The Loom, and for the clergy we have The Labyrinth.
On the right hand of the page:
- Passions
- Obligations (including the classes’ specific fixed Obligations)
- and the Doom Track
